Commence: Public Art Works Class SSU Spring 2026
Trinity taking a break from welding April 1st, 2026 behind Sonoma State University foundry
Digital Mockup, 7ft tall, 16ft long. Steel rod skeleton, metal lathe and blue pigment cement.
Trinity is currently working on a large scale sculpture that will be permanently installed on Sonoma State University campus grounds near the Art Department. Trinity’s letter of intent to the public is as follows:
My intention is to have this sculpture be permanently installed on campus outside of the Art Department, next to the disc golf area, if permitted. It will be in total roughly 16ft long, the highest point 7ft high and consists of 3 pods and will be tinted navy blue. The goal of this installation is to place an organic form amongst nature that would feel as though it were living and from another world. I want the form to seem slightly familiar, allowing for different interpretations and imaginings of where its true origins may come from.
I want this to be a pleasant sort of escapism, like when we would day dream as children. The piece will be large and can be climbed, just as logs and rocks are climbed on when exploring nature. It will be made of a steel rod skeleton wrapped in metal lathe and then lathered in cement. It will be very sturdy and can withstand the elements as well as peoples’ weight.
I am inspired by organic patterns, such as photos of microorganisms under microscope as well as cellular structures of various subjects such as bone tissue. I am also inspired by the naturally occurring geometric structures in nature, such as the completely symmetrical fractals that occur in succulents. I believe what nature is capable of creating is awe inspiring and can seem out of this world, and that is what I want others to contemplate when seeing my sculpture in the setting of nature.
